Catherine, please comment!Posted by lou on August 19, 2004 at 11:49:03: On the Shikai.com website, there is an article "HENNA, WHAT IT IS,AND WHAT IT DOES". It is stated that the plant part that surrounds the hair shaft is not water soluble, so does not wash out with subsequent washings and has an additive effect. (I had understood that as the reason for the cumulative color effect I have happily seen on my own hair)..HOWEVER, they go on to say "...these materials can build up and do indeed make the hair brittle and easily breakable. For this reason, it is recommended that no more than one henna treatment be applied every 3-4 months". This concerns me as I have had every intention of hennaing every 3-4 WEEKS to keep up with new growth and for conditioning effects....IS THIS TOO OFTEN???? IS THERE ANY VALIDITY TO SHIKAI'S STATEMENT?? Your expertise is needed!! Thanks in advance for any assistance!
