I had a very hard time getting henna to take in my hair initially. I
used body-quality henna, left it on for 8 hours, wrapped, etc. I did
everything right. My hair was almost to my waist, and naturally very
platinum blonde. It turned out luscious copper, but within days of
henna'ing, platinum strands/small streaks were appearing throughout
and the bottom 1/2 of the hair had lost much of the color. The top was
still GORGEOUS. I reapplied doing the same exact thing, save that I
put a heating pad on my head for an hour (yes, I looked weird) and
actually slept in the henna and everything took and stayed. My theory
is that the hair closest to my head got the most scalp heat while
piled up under the cap; but, that's only a theory. I have no idea why
it worked, but it did. Not sure if this person has long hair, but
perhaps that could be it?

My hair has never taken dye well (I tried to go brown once, and ended
up a slightly darker platinum...), but has changed texture and feel
since I went on adrenal and thyroid meds. it takes dyes better now, so
perhaps balances within the body can also affect how well hair accepts
henna? As balances change or are restored and the hair grows out, I
definitely noticed even a shade difference in my natural color; so,
perhaps dye retention is also affected?

All just theories, but thought I'd throw them out there.
