is indigo harsh on hair?

I know it doesn't condition like henna. But is it harsh? drying?

I started out with just henna, but have been using a mix of henna and indigo. I do it
in one-step and it is coloring just fine. But I am not sure if my hair is getting drier ...
am I damaging it with the indigo? What if I mixed senna in with the mix, had maybe
1/4 henna, 1/4 senna, and 1/2 indigo for a very dark auburn, would the henna and
senna counteract any harshness in the indigo?

Do you prep senna the same way as henna?
