Don't know if this will help...it was something I noticed.
I used to use my leftovers or make my hair henna the same way that I
make my tattoo henna...with the same grade of henna also and it always
came out a reddish brown. (Made sence since we always want a deep
reddish brown when doing Mehndi.) Then I got lazy one day and was in a
real hurry to get my hair done...I am going silver, it shows if I
ignore my hair. I had run out of lemon juice and so I mixed it the way
one of the henna hair boxes said to do it, just with hot water. My
highlights...the silver hairs, are much brighter and redder and it
deepened to a real nice red instead of the darker color. Now I do that
every month with mine and my daughter's hair as both of our heads are
brown...comes out beautiful.
Hope that helps, Jennifer

: Paprika is supposed to add intensity to the red. Repeated
: applications also make the hair gradually redder. Other than that
: .... what henna are you using?
