I bleach and henna, too--I like the lighter copper colour I get with
the bleach better than my natural auburn. I usually bleach and then
wait a day or two, and atleast one shower, before I henna. I don't
think my hair would react badly, per se, but it gives the bleach time
to calm down a bit from that initial BRIGHT result and makes me feel
safer. Every month I have blonde hairs for a few days, then it's
back to the red. Fun!

Try your local Sally's beauty supply or something like it, where you
can get bleaching kits. You want something with no additional colour
at all, just peroxide bleach. Do a few test strands to get a time
idea, and go for it.
