I'm not sure about 'oiling' : your hair before henna.. I don't think I'd do it, for the very : reason of the colour not taking so well. I'd be more inclined to do : the oiling after I'd hennaed.. : I do sometimes use jojoba oil (recommendadtion from Pierre) on the : ends of my hair.. but I've never used it right before I've hennaed.. Oh shoot! Here I sit with henna on my "oiled hair" lol, I had to redo in spots, its kind of a long story but here goes. The first henna attempt, I had some light mountain henna in medium brown. Since I had highlighted hair, I thought I would do the bottom half which wasnt so heavily bleached. Do you know on their directions they tell you to pour boiling water over the henna? And I know now that too hot of water can kill the dyes. Anyway I followed the directions, and I think the indigo portion took but probably not the henna. Well after that and many enquiries to the people on this website I decided to do the rest of it over the heavily highlighted top part. Well it came out very vibrant lol, and I am really having fun with it, but in doing the job in two installments, I missed a big part of it on the sides back and bottom leaving me with sort of a calico cat effect. (Thank God its 2004 and not the 50's!:) So thats why I am re-henna- ing so soon after, but now I hear it might not take , Oh well I guess I will have to see if I have to go a 4th time now! Live and learn. Too bad I didnt get on computer before henna-ing and could have read this in the nick of lol. Thank you for your post though, I will definitely know next time. Though for those on this site who might be interested, I will let you know if it took or not. I didnt oil real heavily, but probably heavily enough, my luck, and it was coconut oil I used to oil with. Fingers crossed then :) valerie
