: How long did you leave it on for?
:
: It's usually recommended to start with the basics, and then go on to
: the fancy stuff once you know that's working well. This means
really
: good quality henna, lemon juice and water (50/50 mix is standard, I
: think).
:
: I hennaed a friend of mine recently, she had dyed copper hair, and
it
: worked beautifully. Her original hair colour is dark blonde,
though,
: so at least she didn't have bleach to contend with.

Hi again,

Another query, if I may: many of you discuss leaving your mixes for
some hours in order to obtain dye release. Please forgive my
ignorance, but why is this step so important? In other words, if I
just slop it on and leave it overnight [as I used to do when I
hennaed some years back], I'd assume that the dye releae will take
place on the hair itself, rather than in the bowl. In looking at your
chart on the Mixes page, I see that many of you leave the mix in the
bowl much longer than on your heads. I feel rather like a little
sister asking her big sisters about this, so I appreciate your
advice - thanks in advance.
