I have been thinking about your situation with 80% gray. Look at
Tara's post below and see what HennaRunner did for her hair. I am
thinking that you may have to do two indigo treatments with the
second treatment on the lighter roots only. The gray will be a dark
red brown, but not black giving you a "dye line". You will need to
redo those roots with another application on indigo. I don't have
many gray hairs so mine are dark red/brown streaks in black hair.
It looks very nice, but it is not your situation. Anyway, just do
some experimenting, and depending on how fast your hair grows, you
may even have to henna every two weeks like HennaRunner did, but you
would have to do this anyway with chemical dye. Durning certain
times of the year I have to henna every two weeks myself because I
have a cluster of about fifteen hairs right in front. When winter
gets here it will slow down. I hope this helps.
