Repeated henna and darkening/reddening of color

Hi, those of you who read my initial adventure may recall that I ran
out halfway through applying the henna, and mixed in another 100 grams
that hadn't had a dye-release yet. It actually has turned out pretty
well, but the roots (which also had henna on them longer) are a
beautiful red, while some of the 'bottom half' of my hair is a bit
more toward orange--I would say, vermillion.

My question is, can I re-henna to even things out, get a truer red all
over, without making the already-red parts a whole lot darker?

Or, in more detail: if leaving the henna on 8 hours gave me true red
tones and leaving it on 4 hours produced orange red, would reapplying
for another 4 hours make the orange-red parts more truly red, or just
stronger, darker orange-red? Would reapplying for another 8 hours
just make it really dark?

I know that now one can predict with certainty, but, just for science,
what would you expect based on your experiences?

Catherine, and others who henna regularly (and get red results), how
much darker does it get with each application?

Thanks so much; this forum really is the best!
