Rainbow HennaPosted by Sandy on September 15, 2004 at 11:16:10: There is no such thing as “Black Henna” yet Rainbow Company sells itas “Persian Black”. Henna can only be copper red when mixed with lemon juice and light Brown when you add dark roasted hot black coffee. Longer you keep it deeper the color. A good heat head rap will also produces darker color. However, you can add Indigo and Henna (50/50) will get close to Black color. You can get best results by applying Henna first, rinse, and then applying Indigo. It is a mess. If you are trying to color the gray, results can vary. So, be sure to do the strand test. If you are allergic to chemicals especially PPD watch out for the products, which sells as “Black Henna”. It usually contains some amount of PPD. I have done lots of research on these products after I ended up in the hospital emergency room with breathing difficulties a swollen face.
