Contacting Advertising Standards Authority over "henna" - advice pleasePosted by Elettaria on September 17, 2004 at 17:29:53: I'm going to make a complain to the Advertising Standards Authorityabout my local herbalists, whom I shall politely call N. I've been using them for years and always thought they were very reliable and had high standards. This notion was shaken when I looked at their henna boxes in the shop. As they don't list the ingredients on their website, I e-mailed for confirmation and this is what I have just received. "Thanks for your enquiry regarding our Hennas, the ingredients are: Black Henna - Lawsonia spinosa (henna) Brown Henna - Lawsonia inermis (henna) Organic Red Henna - Lawsonia inermis (organic henna) Neutral 'Blonde' Henna - Lawsonia alba (henna) The Blonde, or neutral, henna doesn't colour the hair but adds body and shine to the hair. We don't recommend using henna if your hair is predominately grey or has been chemically treated, but if you need any further infomation about our henna or how to use them please don't hesitate to contact us." Got them! No way will that be what's in the boxes, apart from possibly the red one, but if they lie about the other ones then who knows. This is not legal. How do I phrase it to the ASA, who will know nothing about henna?
