I just did my hair Wednesday night (slept on it and washed out
yesterday). I used 300gm Catherine's henna and about 100gm ground
cloves. I have no idea if that was waaaayyy too much, or just right
but I can tell you my hair came out a dark orange-ish color which is
slowly darkening up. I really like the color, but I hope it darkens a
bit. When I did my hair tests I tested with and without cloves and
with and without coffee with the henna/lemon juice compound. I think
the cloves and coffee darkened the color while keeping it in the
orange/red spectrum. I think next time I may use cloves/henna/lemon
juice with coffee to see if it starts out darker.

I've never used Walnut but it is my understanding that when mixed with
henna it will give you brown hair with red/orange highlights when out
in the sun. I would really recommend looking at the mixes section at
people who used either cloves or walnut in their mix and see if you
like what they've got.

I gotta say, one part of this that I really liked was the
experimentation. Kitchen science can be soooooo much fun!
