Indigo curiosityPosted by Kat on February 15, 2004 at 11:14:00: This is just cuz I've been wondering...Have seen several girls around campus with their hair dyed black. And I want to tell them, "don't you know that looks awful?" It really does. Prolly not just because I suspect it's not anywhere near their natural color so their coloring is all wrong for it, but because to me it looks like the hair equivalent of painting your car with flat black house paint. People who have black hair naturally, of course, still have different color nuances and highlights, and often highlight a different color in the sun (even take my black cat, for example, who looks brown in the sun. My desire to henna him so he gets red highlights is another story, lol). Black hair dye just dyes black straight across the board, no different, no highlights...So that started me thinking, would indigo-henna black look better than regular out-of-a-box black? I mean, henna just stains the hair, rather than covering the color, so the normal highlights of your hair come through, so indigo would do the same thing, right? And it'd look a lot more natural? A girl I know from choir suddenly has almost-black hair, and it looks good and natural. I don't know if it's her original color and she just dyed it before, or if she has dyed it this color but it's lovely. I almost asked her "do you dye your hair? Do you use indigo? It doesn't look fake," but I wasn't sure if she'd think that was rude. :)
