What is it "coming back from" ??! I have found that my brown hairs don't look
anywhere near as *red* as the gray ones. But also the ends that had been bleached
out by fading commercial chemical dyes are brighter. My hair looks reddish-brown
inside but very bright in sunlight, as others have said. But I had a lot of light hair to
start with, between gray and faded-to-almost-blonde ...

I did find that the FIRST few henna dyes were much more shockingly-bright than later
ones ... the color is deepening with each dye. But I've also added more indigo each
time.

Oh, on the black walnut - I did that the first time, henna and black walnut, and my
grays and lights went BRIGHT orange. So I wouldn't count on black walnut, alone,
giving enough brown to counter the red.

Not sure if I've been any help ...
