The first time I ever hennaed I used henna and black walnut. My hair turned out
pretty brassy-orange in the grays and faded-bleached out parts. I'd read that black
walnut "pushed the color towards brown" and maybe it did, I didn't have anything to
compare it to - didn't do a strand test ... but it didn't give me the darkening/
browning I'd hoped for.

I'm now adding indigo to get a browner color.
