Henna and clovesPosted by krazee on September 30, 2004 at 14:56:31: In reply to: you're right posted by wanttobered on September 30, 2004 at 14:08:01: I'm not sure how much cloves to use! lol I think part of the reasonmy hair still smells so strongly (but wonderfully!) like cloves is I probably put too much in. I used 300gm henna from Catherine and 100gm of cloves. I bought 2 bottles of ground clover and added them. Are you from the US? You know the size of regular spice jars in the supermarket...not the jumbo bottles and not the little inch tall one, but the regular ones? I got 2 of those for about 1.69 each in the Goya section of my market. (McCormick is like $5 a bottle for that size in NJ Super-G market.) Like I said before, experiment with samples first. That's what I did. Catherine got them out to me in about 4 days. I also mixed in some Cajeput, Tea Tree and Lavender essential oils...about 15 drops each for the full mix, 1 drop each when I was doing the sample tests. Catherine also has paprika samples if memory serves, or I guess whatever you've got in your cupboard would work as well. Just keep sampling until you get a color you like. And realize, your color will darken for about a week after you dye it as the henna oxidizes. Good Luck! krazee
