I was able to get some cassia leaves that were chopped and dried, but
not powdered. I figured it couldn't hurt to put them in a tea bag
and steep them in the lemon juice for my hair henna, and might do
some help. I promptly forgot both tea cup and bag o'leaves (I mixed
my henna last Friday night) until tonight. I went to wash the bag
(it's muslin, reusable, and I only use it for henna-brews) and the
mug, only to find that the bag was dyed a vibrant yellow, and there
was a slight stain in the cup where the bag had been, also yellow. I
removed the leaves and then rinsed the bag, and much of the dye
dripped out and went away, especially with rubbing. It came out of
the ceramic cup easily. It was a new bag, so it had to be the cassia
(maybe reacting to the lemon juice?). Any ideas why? I've got some
more of the stuff if you want to test it, Catherine.
