It really is the greatest thing ever.i have : been dying my hair red with chemical dyes for 5 years, and not only : has it damaged my hair terribly, but the real redness of it always : seemed to wash out after a week, leaving me hair a slightly lighter : than natural but brassy and dull colour. But henna has made it bright : and vibrant, and i have left it longer than ever before without : cutting it (i have been trying to grow it for years with no success) : and i don't even have a single split end yet! Also, i used henna : straight over hair that had been chemically dyed only a month before : and it was absolutely fine, much better condition. : : My only slight problem is that i want really RED red hair, properly : fiery if you know what I mean. A lot of people in the photos on this : site seem to have acheived this. My results so far have been a bit : orangey, although I realise I have only tried 2ce, and it will improve : with subsequent applications. Also I have not yet tried good quality : Henna, only cheap ones (I have ordered some of the good stuff now : though!). : : I have read in a lot of places though, that if you add paprika to the : mix it will spice it up a bit, and also that lemon juice can be used : (i have only been mixing henna and water so far), and also that the : mixture should be left for a while to develop prior to application. : : Bearing in mine that I would like my hair to be as RED as red can be, : would any experienced hennaist be kind enough to answer these : questions for me?: : : 1. If I add paprika to the mix, how much should I add/what proportion : to the Henna? : : 2. Ditto with lemon juice : : 3. How long should I leave the mixture to develop? : : Thank you very much, I look forward to any replies. Hello! Visit the "techniques" page for how tos with the lemon juice, and the mixes page (or Elettaria's table) to see who has used paprika. I don't use paprika in mine, but I can only say that you are in for a pleasant surprise when you use high quality henna mixed with lemon juice and left to release dye. The results will be REALLY red! (although I don't think you mention what your starting colour was; it depends on your original colour what shade of red you get.) Good luck!
