First time vs. second time

Hi everyone,
I've had two very different experiences with henna.
First time: Hair quality henna was left on for about 6 hrs. Terrible
time rinsing it out but afterwards my hair was soft and little
straighter and my dandraff was outa there.....it was soooo nice and
it stayed like this for a good 3-1/2 to 4 weeks.
Second time: Body-art quality was left on about 4-5 hrs. Rinsing was
looking like a never ending process (both times I did use shampoo
when rinsing)and I had the feeling that henna was still in my hair.
Got sick did not wash may hair for 2 weeks. After shampooing the
smell of henna is still strong and my shampoo was reddish in color
and my dandraff is as usual and my hair did not get a little
straight. After shampooing a week after that shampoo was slightly
red and the smell of henna is still strong.

What happened? Can hair quality be better in some cases (like
conditioning) than body-art quality?
