: Why is the smell not going away? Is this normal?
unfortunately, yes. (I hate the smell as well - some people like it
though. for me it smells like hay, which is *not* an association I
want to have with my hair).

: Will the ground cloves help the smell next time?
yup, it overpowers the henna smell. works very well. the cloves smell
lasts for weeks and weeks. I can smell a little bit of henna through
the cloves the first couple of days after hennaing, but not much
longer than that - after the first couple of days it's just weeks of
cloves for me.

if you don't like the smell of cloves this is obviously not for you ;-
)

: And if it is normal to have some
: residual smell after each application, how long does it linger
: around...
weeks and weeks.

: What can I apply to my hair that will get rid of it? (It
: only comes back when it is wet)
essential oils, perfume, anything that overpowers the henna smell.
I've used patchouli oil (diluted in a carrier oil) to get rid of
henna smell. I like the way patchouli goes with the henna, makes the
henna smell earthy in a nice way. but whatever scent you like should
work, I guess.
