Dye Release??

OK, what exactly is dye release and what does it mean for henna users?

For the moment, I am stuck with red henna. I don't want red or
orange hair, just conditioning. If I don't wait (make my mix and
apply immediately) how effective conditioning/color will it be?

Also, does indigo have any conditioning effects or is it solely a
dye?
