usually blond and gray turn out a very intense red- that is, with
high quality henna and careful mixing. henna could turn your hair
bright orange if it is old or low-quality. your best bet is to
collect a sizeable sample of hair from your hairbrush, and henna
that, and see what comes up. if you test a number of different mixes
you may find one that's right for you. this page has a bunch of
