She's gotabout : an inch of roots, I think, but the colour difference isn't too much : thankfully. Is the hair from the roots likely to take up colour : faster or slower than the previously chemically dyed stuff? : : What colour is your hair - you're not the one in the chart who's got : greying black hair, are you? - and how long do you leave the henna on : for? Also, any thoughts on reversing the direction of henna this time? Hi again, No, I'm not actually the Diane on the mixes page. I started out as a light natural redhead actually. I now have a very fiery chestnut/copper thing going on. Although the colour change was fairly drastic, it does mean that my roots are actually lighter than the length rather than darker, I think that contributes to the fact that I can ignore the regrowth for quite some time. I think the theory is that the older, more porous length and ends of hair will take up the dye more readily than the new growth or roots. I don't know if I can offer any advice about the direction to apply; my hair was shoulder length, now just about jaw length, so I tend to always spend the bulk of my attention on getting the roots well covered, then I give the greys at my temples a bit of a head start as well since they are stubborn, before just slopping it on to the length, which takes literally 2 minutes. One of the only advantages to owning a head of short hair ( I long for the days when my hair hit my brastrap, I'm terribly jealous of all the long-haired folks here!)
