Re: smell of henna not going away?Posted by justmouse on October 13, 2004 at 17:03:55: In reply to: smell of henna not going away? posted by wanttobered on October 11, 2004 at 17:04:50: i mixed a bunch of clove powder in my brew (didn't measure it,sorry), as well as clove oil in with my henna. the clove smell lasted for quite a few days when my hair was dry, and even now, about two weeks later, i can still faintly smell cloves when i get my hair wet. not sure if anyone else can smell it, but i can. but i love the smell of cloves, so it doesn't matter. i think the reason it lingers so long, is that the henna bonds with your hair. i know when i've used chemical dyes in the past, or had a perm, i can smell that nasty stench for WEEKS afterwards. hair is very porous, think about how bad your hair smells if a lot of people have been smoking, or if you go to a fast food restaurant. your hair just sucks the smell right up! so imagine if that cigarette or hamburger smell was chemically BONDED to your hair?! bleh! sorry this is so long, but seriously...add the cloves. you won't smell the henna (although i personally like that grassy/hay/green tea smell).
