: Dear all,
:
: This is my first post on this forum; I have been visiting the site
: only a few days now and I am very excited to re-try Henna. I say re-
: try because I have used a version of Henna before from Lush
: Cosmetics, where the henna is set in blocks by using cocoa butter.
: The particular version I used (caca brun) contains Indigo dye too.
:
: What I was wondering was: I have light to medium brown hair. It's
: blah. I have sworn off synthetic dyes for the rest of my life (PPDs)
: and whilst I totally understand henna is going to redden my hair, I
: was wondering if anyone here knew of a good henna recipe for a
: darkish brown, like a chocolate colour. Having been through a lot of
: stress this year my hair is breaking easily, making it look thin,
: and since I have fine hair anyway, I really cant afford for this to
: happen! I know Henna is great for strength and body, but I really
: dont want to go RED.
:
: If anyone could help me, I would be very much obliged! Thank you. xxx

I suggest walnut. Juglone is an isomer of lawsone, so they both get into the keratin
(though juglone doesn't bind as tightly), unlike indigo, a molecule twice as big. I
added walnut to my mix a few weeks ago and a woman at the Bible study insisted
I cut my hair, which I didn't, so apparently she saw some difference.
