henna for hairPosted by Kim on February 18, 2004 at 16:29:26: I bought some henna (200 g) from Mendhi and am excited and terrifiedof doing my hair at same time. I have done it for about 10 yrs with a 4oz. jar I get at healthfood store (rainbow brand) by just adding hot brewed coffee to it and immediately putting it on hair with a paint brush. Than putting it in plastic cap and sitting under plastic cap type hair dryer for about 45 minutes. I want to try this henna but not sure how to vary the application. Am told to mix with lemon juice and let sit over night and than put on hair and leave 2 hrs. I was told with my other mixture that by adding coffee it would tone down red and help it hide gray. My hair is naturally medium brown with small amount of gray(mostly at root). How would I do this mixture using the coffee. I'm not sure of ratio of coffee to lemon juice or weather to add coffee the night before or just before applying to hair. Also, can I sit under the hair dryer and for how long. I like a auburn type of red and don't want to turn out like Lucille Ball red(if you know what I mean.) I guess I am just a bit frightened about trying something new. though I really wasn't satisfied with the old product(never seem to last very long.) Hoping to have my fears settled and some helpful hints Thanks, Kim
