Plain henna involves shoving the powder in a bowl along with some water and lemon juice (and you can just get that in a bottle, no hassle at all), leaving it overnight and applying it the next day. From what I understand, the Lush henna needs to be mixed up with water anyway, so I doubt there's anything to choose between them in terms of ease of mixing, and they're probably the same in terms of application too (I imagine the cocoa butter in the Lush one will affect the texture, but I have no idea how).
