Aritha, aka Soapnut was introduced to me as a biodegradable hair
wash. I get mine from a local Indian store. They sell the powder as

While you're on that site, check out Shikakai, Amla and Neem powder.
They are all supposed to good for hair. Shikakai in particular. I
haven't tried them yet. I've been playing with the idea of ordering
some of each and including them in my regimin.
