Help..can't seem to escape it!

Please help!!I have naturally strawberry blonde hair and hennaed it red with body
art quality stuff in about march. Now, while it's obvious that my
hair is growing longer, the regrowth of blonde doesn't seem
proportional to how long my hair is.
It's like the henna is leaking into the newly grown hair so there's
still a lot of red very close to the roots..
Anyone know anything about this?
