I have naturally dark brown short hair like a : Guys! I want the most blackest hair possible with henna no reddish : color at all. So today I got a box of Henna called Nour from Syria. : It had about 200 grams in it, it only cost 3 bucks. Well this is my : ingredients : : *100 grams of henna in a glass container : *1/4 cup of boiling water : *About 3 tablespoons regular foldgers coffee powder : *Three small hits of paprika : *Five tablespoons of White Vinegar : *Three tablespoons of Lime Juice : *Two tablespoons orange (clear) liquid for smell/ : * Small handful of Quakers Oats to make it less liquidly : : : I mixed this all together waited about two hours and then applied it : on. : I waited about 45 minutes, a lot of the mix was going all over my : face so I decided to rinse out with Paul Mitchell Moisturize Shampoo. : The final color was slightly darker then before. : I would like to know if Im doing something wrong or what do I need in : order to get extreme black hair (no red) . : : Thanks for your assistance! : Layla I didn't see anything in your list to negate the red of henna. Also, you left it in for a short amount of time. I don't know how mild Paul Mitchell shampoo is, but I usually don't shampoo the stuff out, I just rinse and no shampoo for at least 24 hours. Leave out the paprika. It only adds red. Use less water; oats wouldn't be necessary (and oats may just soak soak up the henna and prevent it from absorbing into your hair). Use indigo a day or a week after henna. A prior post mentioned indigo + amla powder applied a week after henna - after oxidizing the user ended up with BLACK hair. I think her mix was amla mixed and left overnight, then indigo mixed with water and dye-release, then mix the two pastes together and apply for 30 minutes. Rinse off, wait 24-48 hours and see what develops.
