For Mustafa and AnnaPosted by Meg on November 1, 2004 at 16:19:38: Today I did the indigo treatment over the henna/amla and the resultsare amazing. I did a little something different this time. I mixed up my indigo and waited for dye release. Then to this I added a full teaspoon of Manic Panic Midnight Blue and mixed it in. I left this on my hair for four hours and rinsed, rinsed, rinsed. I used conditioner to finish the rinseing and then I rinsed again with a 50:50 vinegar water rinse and left that in. On the Manic Panic website they tell you to do this to set the color. After twenty- four hours I will wash it out. I did this for my daughter and her hair is staying with no fading. My hair has a blue tint in sunlight but is otherwise very black. My grays are not noticable today, but the test will be tomorrow after I wash my hair. If they are dark burgundy streaks, I don't mind, but without indigo they are Irish setter red and I don't care for that. I like this color much better than just henna + indigo two step method. Without the Manic Panic you get just jet black with no highlights in the sun. By the way Manic Panic is safe with both henna and indigo because it has an acidic base and no chemicals. It is not safe with regular hair dye because of the chemicals in the dye. As for amla oil, it is excellent as a scalp treatment, but does nothing for coloring. Val posted a hair growth oil recipe on the boards some time back which I am using and it gives the most silky smooth hair I have ever seen. I modified it some to make up a larger batch. I used 30 drops of each essential oil(thyme, cedarwood atlas, rosemary, lavender) to 8 onces of Emu oil, but next time I will be using jojoba oil. It smells better. I hope this is of help to you and a bit of encouragement. I do not get on the boards much these days as time is tight now, so feel free to e-mail me with questions. Best Reguards, Meg
