I've tried to grow my hair really long several times. I threw away my blow dryer, hairspray, and curling iron. I only wash my hair every few days and even quit coloring it for a couple of years. But my hair doesn't get much past my shoulder blades before it starts to get scraggly at the ends. So I had it cut to the top of my neck last January and started coloring it red again. I figured if I couldn't have it long, at least it could be the color I want. I've only had it trimmed since and it is a little below my colar bones. I'd love to have it really long. Perhaps the henna will help with that. I did have an itchy scalp from the lemon juice the day after I hennaed. I mixed up an egg yolk(we have our own hens so I have LOTS of eggs) and mayonaise conditioner, left it in an hour, and rinsed it out. The itch was gone. My hair wasn't tangly(even wet) and felt thicker. It wasn't slick like you get with store-bought conditioner though, it just felt healthy. I wonder if a lot of people who complain about their hair feeling like straw after henna are expecting it to feel slick like that. That isn't really healthy, just a temporary fix. Has anyone had better luck growing their hair out after hennaing??
