Indigo seems to release more dye when you leave it to stand for that ten minute period. I have tried direct applications right away after mixing but they never dye as strongly as the mixes that rested briefly first. What I would suggest is limiting the surface area of your mix as it will oxidise mainly from the top surface so for example a cup would be better than a dish. A half hour application would give you a healthy active application. Some dye batches take 20 mins to flush out the dye so a 10 minute rest and a half hour application will still work well. That ten minute rest seems to be really key and it will work well for you with most dye batches. : Also, I have a mix in the freezer of henna and indigo from : my very first application. Is it dead? The indigo will be dead but not the henna. : Thanks for all your help. Do you use indigo in your hair? I tried it but I don't get the time very often so I'm trying to figure out a hair care routine that will work better for me. I have a lot of gray/white hair and I don't enjoy looking at the re-growth. Uggh I feel old just thinking about it! A
