highlighting

From what i read, this stuff is very hard to work with, I have very
dark brown hair down below my waist, the ends are alot lighter than
the top of my head, has anyone ever tried to highlight their hair
with henna? I would like to highlight but have never done anything
to my hair before. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
