dextrosePosted by iris on November 16, 2004 at 08:26:22: hi guys,I was reading the forum over at hennapage.com - for those who don't know, this hennaforhair site is a spin-off of hennapage.com, which is dedicated to henna for body art. in any case, I was reading there about the wonderful things dextrose does for the consistency of henna paste for body art. link is below. I thought maybe this would help us also with the consistency of our paste for hair, to help prevent drips and such, and to make application easier. so far I've tried it with an indigo-henna mixture I use to dye my eyebrows. I used about 2/6 indigo, 1/6 henna, 3/6 dextrose. this was too much dextrose I think, the paste kinda balled up and was difficult to get off the brush and onto the eyebrows. but once it was on, it stayed on very well. the consistency was in any case a lot better than my regular indigo-henna mix, which falls apart during application and won't stick at all. I just thought I'd post about this here, because it may help indigo users to get a better consistency - since the pectin thing doesn't seem to work with indigo. I also tried dextrose with my henna mix for hair, but unfortunately I wasn't really due for a full henna treatment, so I only tested with a root application. it worked well enough, but I don't get drips when I do root applications anyway, so that doesn't say much. for the record, I used 3/6 henna, 1/6 indigo, 2/6 dextrose for this experiment. no balling up here. I'll be doing more experiments in about a month or so. maybe in the meantime someone else may want to experiment with this? Iris
