soaking henna

hello,
this forum is great...so many ideas..i have been having hair fall
since a year ..i think my studying for exams hvae a lot to do with
it..i had stopped taking care of myself....I would like to know..how
long should I soak henna..and is soaking in a iron container turn it
dark....i get good henna from an indian store nearby..so .. i want
to use it as soon as possible..but I alwys geyt an orangy
color..wchich I hate ..is there any way I can turn it looking dark
brown or dark burgendy red...!!
