indigo washing out

A little note on my recent experience with using henna then indigo with amlaover that...
When I rinsed out the henna paste and dried my hair...it was reddish auburn,
but i SWEAR there was a faint blackish bluish iridescence to the hair about 3
inches beyond the scalp, where I had indigoed before. I was surprised
because in my previous applications of indigo I felt like it "washed out" rather
quickly. I guess it was still there!
Has anyone here tried henna and amla together? I would think it might make
a nice dark auburn,
