Does anybody know how to dye hair naturally without henna?

Hello everybody! I've tried henna in the past, have tried mixing it
with herbs and tea, indigo etc yet I'm always frustrated how no
matter how precise I am with the measurements of each
ingredient I always end up with a slightly different shade.

So I was wondering if any of you know a simple way of dyeing
hair without henna or indigo or artificial hair colorants? I have
sandy blonde hair which is now totally henna free (took 18
months!) but want to go darker like brown, just anything to
darken my hair with constant results.

Anybody know any recipies? Please no coffee or tea recipies
because I hate the intense buzz from the caffine.

Is there any website on the internet which deals primarily with
this sort of thing because I feel bad being on your forum here
and asking a slightly non-henna related topic.
