Indigo, dryness and some picturesPosted by Poohding on November 22, 2004 at 13:55:47: Is there anybody experiencing dryness from indigo? I just colored myhair this weekend first with body art quality henna, then followed two days later with indigo. I believe it was real, "good" indigo from the way it reacted. I mixed a small amount with distilled water and saw it change from green to teal to dark blue in about 20 minutes. Since it looked good I went ahead and mixed 200 grams with water applied into my hair and let it sit for 3 hours. When I washed it off the color was lovely but my hair is very very dry and sort of hard to the touch. My hair was already damaged from having highlights/chemical color so I wonder if that had something to do with it. The henna was wonderful, no dryness or off colors in my hair at all. Why did the indigo cause this? Will the indigo wash off and with it the dryness? Is there any natural conditioner anyone can suggest? I cannot use most commercial conditioners because they give me horrendous dandruff (Aussie Moist, Infusium, they are bad on my scalp). Here are some pictures I took of my hair. The first one is after hennaing my hair (which was chemical colored medium brown) indoors with a flash. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v101/Poohding/redindoor.jpg The second one is outdoor in the shade http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v101/Poohding/redoutdoorshade.jpg The third is outdoors under the sun after using indigo. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v101/Poohding/indigooutsun.jpg
