No, the top layer was lighter (and more on films)Posted by Elettaria on November 25, 2004 at 04:35:51: In reply to: Re: Defrosting henna, and how long to leave it on for this time posted by krazee on November 24, 2004 at 14:30:18: Which does make sense. Though I wouldn't put it past us to managesomething really peculiar. I keep looking at the old strand test, which is a good shade or two darker than the rest of her hair, and muttering, "But it's such a lovely colour..." Nope, the lady wants bright copper! It does look fabulous on her, and for some reason it looked darker when we were outside. I'll nag her to dig out the photos and we'll send them in. I think I just seriously worried the local chemist by the way I went in and asked about latex gloves. *sniggers* Fabulous, I'll put it in the fridge the evening before, then, and if it's still not defrosted by late morning I'll put the bowl in warm water. "Pirates" is obviously a henna essential. We tried to watch it last time, actually, but when she opened the DVD case she realised she'd left it at home, so we watched, "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" instead and I explained the Jewish references (like when Robin plonks some huge dead animal down on the table, and King John sighs, "Treif"). Let's see, what other films have I watched while hennaing, that I remember. Priscilla Queen of the Desert & Blues Brothers (the first suggested by me, my ex-boyfriend needed to learn about queer culture; the latter suggested by my trombonist ex, who thought I needed to learn more about jazz and brass) Dracula (the so-called Bram Stoker version, absolutely dreadful and nowhere near as good as Lochhead's play or even the novel) Shakespeare in Love & Victor/Victoria (the first suggested by me, my Shakespeare tutor kept going on about it - most disappointing, though - and the second by my ex-girlfriend who was the one being hennaed, and it was wonderful and I finally figured out why she has always fancied Julie Andrews, who is absolutely gorgeous in drag)
