Walnut tests, no effect. What am I doing wrong?Posted by Debra on December 5, 2004 at 19:36:08: I have done a number of strand tests on samples of my hennaed hairwith walnut. After reading everything about using walnut powder to dye hair, baskets, and wool, I tried the following: 1)Walnut powder with lemon - soaked hair sample for 4 hours, soaked a hair with gray root for 4 hours. 2)Walnut powder with water - same 4 hours 3)Boiled walnut powder & lemon - soaked hair while warm for 4 hours, soaked hair with gray root for 4 hours. 4)Boiled walnut powder and water - same 4 hours. Every strand tests looks exactly the same as it originally did. The grey hair still is grey at the root, not even a tinge of brown. No effect whatsoever under all types of light. Doesn't stain skin either, just makes a brown liquid paste that rinses off with just water. I bought it from Castle Art and it appears fresh. Am I using the wrong kind? Am doing something wrong? Does walnut actually do anything? Does anyone get a difference using it in their mix?
