purple hair

Wow...this is my first time to this forum (I've been over on the
body art forum heaps but this is my first hop across the pond). I
used to die my hair with henna and loved the results but once died
it synthetically a few monthes after my last henna job. I had tried
to die it auburn and it came out an almost black, purpley, eggplant
color. Seriously, I looked like some kind of goth queen. I would
like to start hennaing my hair again but it currently has synthetic
dies in it. What's the protocal here?
