Does it add more color?: Well, I used Fia's gel henna recipe yesterday, using one box (4 : envelopes =28 grms) of Knox unflavored gelatin. I boiled the liquids; : 2/3rds bottled lemon juice, dash of coffee as I refilled my cup, the : rest tap water, added the gelatin, boiled it for a minute, mixed it : into the henna. The only difference that I can tell from the gelatin : and the pectin is that the gelatin needs a lot longer to "set up". I : had set my timer for 1/2 an hour, as recommended with the pectin, but : it was still pretty runny, after an hour I just didn't have enough : time to wait, so I used it runny. It was really easy to get into my : hair, and I really felt like I got it all the way through and down to : the roots quite easily. I had to keep shoving rolled up paper towels : under the plastic wrap at my forehead to catch drips, but all in all : it was really quite easy. I left it on for a few hours and rinsed : out in the sink (the gelled stuff rinses out easily too!). When I : went to put away my left overs (I used 100g of henna, I have bra : strap length hair) it was nicely gelled. So the moral of the story : is; if you use gelatin, allow yourself a few hours to let it set up : before applying. Thanks Fia for a great recipe!!
