Scenting ACV - and morePosted by Kirsten on December 17, 2004 at 00:58:02: Yum - tried something, and it WORKS. A few days ago my dd started tomake a batch of gift vinegars, and it got my brain humming (Oh NO!)...she was using white vinegar simmered with fresh herbs for her 1st step...the vinegar smell is quickly overcome by the herbs. You know I had to try it for henna :>) Soooo I simmered a batch of ground cloves in a couple of cups of vinegar for about 20 mins. Let it set to cool and poured it into an old water bottle. Yesterday when it was henna prep time I reheated the vinegar, added a spoonfull of cardamom then strained it all through a coffee filter (supported by a funnel). I mixed this yummy clovey liquid with equal water and used it to mix my henna last night. Worked great, and my hair smells awesome- like cookies! Which makes me think about adding nutmeg, and ginger, and mixing with apple juice next time....also I'll probably try whole cloves next. In any case, filtering meant 2-3 tsps less grit in the tub! Just wanted to share - off to smell my hair now - hope it lasts through the last weekend of Nutcracker (thinking of you Meg)....
