I know it says on the boxes that it washes out or fades within a couple of months, but on me it definately doesn't. someone on the boards here has been growing out her henna for four years and it's still there. : A couple of weeks of dark hair is nice but come : spring I definitely want to go back to a lighter colour :) : : So, I suppose synthetic dye will be the way to go. I'd really make that a temporary dye, if you're thinking in terms of weeks. if you use semi-permanent or permanent you'll probably end up having to strip that out. : Would it be safe : to use it now? My last henna was, I think, two months ago, probably : longer. well, safe... synthetic dye is never really safe - you may want to click on the 'PPD dyes' link (at the top of the forum page) and read there for a bit. in terms of 'will your hair turn black, blue or green', that's impossible to tell because you used henna from undocumented sources, and it's not at all unlikely that they were compound henna's, i.e. henna with metallic salts in them. if you have metallic salts in your hair, synthetic dyes will react with them in unpredictable ways, and you may end up with green hair, or it may melt right off your head. so, always strand test. I think that temporary dyes are less of a risk, but also there: strand test. for more info on metallic salts in henna, read under 'compound dyes' here: http://www.hennaforhair.com/science/whatsinit.html this may also be helpful: http://www.hennaforhair.com/science/fiatech.html don't say I didn't warn ya ;-)! iris
