Jumping into Hennaed Hair!Posted by Anita on December 28, 2004 at 12:58:47: Have been studying this Forum and am about to color my hair withhenna! Just washed my hair and am waiting for hair to dry completely. Will have my teenage son snap some photos of now. Then I will take the plunge! I have never colored my hair in my life. It is just below brastrap length and rather on the thin side. I was a blondie when young, but now a light brown with gold and copper hairs interspersed. At 43, the gray is coming in. Just a few grays interspersed throughout. Did a strand test. It is sort of coppery red, like a penny. The teenage sons and husband are freaking! They don't want me to henna my hair! Am trying to explain to them that if I begin to cover the grey now, it will look better in the long run! They Whine. Have thawed out my leftover frozen bridal henna from autumn. It is Kenzi's Morroccan about 30%, with the rest Jamila, lemon juice, and tea tree oil. I have thrown in some freshly ground cloves, and thinned it with strong chamomile tea. I am a bit frightened! I just don't like that grey! Questions... What does yogurt do to the mix? I saw it somewhere on here, but cannot find my way back to it. Is yogurt a good hair conditioner in general? I make my own and always have a couple quarts of it in the frdge. I love plain yogurt! If it turns out too carroty coloured how soon can I henna over it again to attempt to deepen the red? Will have the teens take more photos to document on following days. These will be actual photos, because we are not digi-camed or scanner equipped. Will send them on to Catherine. I figure if I don't like it, I will just go get it all cut off real short, or wear it in the Buddhist Nun Style as I did in the early 70's! People really freak on bald women! It's an act of penance and lets ones inner beauty shine forth in all it's glory! And, it's nice and fuzzy when it grows back in and everyone loves to pet your fuzzy little head! Hopefully, I will like the henna color! I have been enjoying having some length to my hair the past few years... French Braids and Cornrows are nice too! Please send Good Vibes and Luck for Henna Day in Denver! Nice and Sunny Here! Huzzah for Henna! THX! Anita
