She speaks heresy!) since 1) you don't have to keep a section of hair away from the other hair and 2) you don't have this random lock of weird if you don't like the color. I have another suggestion if you don't want to wait to collect enough hair on your brush or you're like me and your hair is too short to collect: Cut off a lock of your hair. And of course, choose a section that was too long anyway or otherwise unnoticeable.
