I knew I remembered reading about rhubarb root in my TCM studies.You should be able to find this powdered online, either as rhubarb root (western herbalism) or da huang (Chinese herb name, not to be confused with the controversial ma huang). I'd recommend Mayway as a supplier (that's a brand, you can google it) as they supply Chinese herbs free from heavy metals and sulfur. Their herb powders are excellent. Interestingly enough, a decoction of da huang has been shown to be effective in the treatment of folliculitis when applied topically. Its use in contraindicated for nursing mothers, as there can be transdermal absorption and it is excreted in the milk.
