The gooseberry is Ribes, the same genus as the currant, family Grossulariaceae, and the Chinese gooseberry is Actinidia deliciosa, in the family Actinidiaceae, more commonly known as the kiwifruit. Emblic is in the spurge family, Euphorbiaceae, and is also called Phyllanthus emblica.
