Mildly laughable. I've given birth to a couple of babies myself, and I would NOT just put one hand down to catch it. You CANNOT push and catch at the same time. Especially if you plan on breathing. Actually, depictions of delivery are not uncommon in old manuscripts. The woman is usually sitting, but on a "birthing chair" but there's ALWAYS a midwift underneath to do the "baby catching". And, it wasn't done in a hammam because of the presence of malevolent spirits.
